Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF

Runs on your device

Convert Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OpenDocument files to PDF with LibreOffice running in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Converts with LibreOffice running in your browser. The first time, its engine (about 60 MB) downloads once and is kept by your browser. Your document is never uploaded.

How to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF

  1. Choose a document: .docx, .doc, .xlsx, .xls, .pptx, .ppt, .odt, .ods, .odp, .rtf or .csv.
  2. Select Convert to PDF. The first time, the office engine downloads once (about 60 MB) and your browser keeps it.
  3. LibreOffice opens the file on your device and saves it as a PDF, usually in a second or two.
  4. Download the PDF.

Office files to PDF, without uploading them

A PDF looks the same on every screen and printer, which is why invoices, CVs, reports and slide decks are usually sent that way. This tool turns Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and their OpenDocument equivalents into PDF files, right in your browser.

Most online converters upload your file to their servers to do this. Here the conversion happens on your own device, so contracts, payslips, medical letters and unreleased plans never pass through anyone else's computer. It is free, needs no account, and adds no watermark to your PDF.

Real LibreOffice, running in the page

The converter is LibreOffice, the open-source office suite used by millions on the desktop, compiled to WebAssembly by the ZetaOffice project so it can run inside a web page. It reads the same formats LibreOffice reads on a computer: .docx and .doc from Word, .xlsx and .xls from Excel, .pptx and .ppt from PowerPoint, OpenDocument's .odt, .ods and .odp, plus .rtf and .csv. It then saves the document with LibreOffice's own PDF export, so headings, tables, images, page sizes and margins come through as they appear in the original.

Spreadsheets are printed sheet by sheet with their own print settings, and presentations become one page per slide. To combine several converted files into one PDF afterwards, use Merge PDF.

What to expect

The first time, the office engine downloads once, about 60 MB, from WeaveAI's own engine server, and your browser keeps it, so later visits start in seconds. Each conversion then takes a moment on your device. Fonts that aren't on your device are replaced with similar ones, which can move line breaks in documents that rely on a particular typeface. Password-protected files can't be opened yet: remove the password in the original app first.

Because this page runs LibreOffice with several threads, it loads in a stricter browser mode than other pages, which is why analytics is switched off on it.

Questions

Is my document uploaded?
No. LibreOffice runs inside your browser and converts the file on your device. The only download is LibreOffice itself, from WeaveAI's own engine server; your document never leaves your device.
Will the PDF look exactly like the original?
Very close for most documents, because it is the same LibreOffice that millions use on the desktop. Fonts that aren't installed on your device are replaced with similar ones, which can shift line breaks in heavily designed files.
Why does the first conversion take longer?
The office engine, about 60 MB, downloads the first time and is then kept by your browser. After that it starts in seconds and each conversion takes a moment.
Can it open password-protected files?
Not yet. Remove the password in the app that created the file, then convert it here.
