Link cleaner

Runs on your device

Strip tracking from links before you share them: UTM tags, click IDs, redirect wrappers and long Amazon URLs.

Cleaned as you type. No link is opened or sent anywhere.

How to use Link cleaner

  1. Paste a link, several links, or a whole message that contains links.
  2. Copy the cleaned text: each link is cleaned in place.
  3. Check the list to see what was removed from each link.

Share links without the tracking

Links copied from emails, social apps, search results and shops carry extra baggage: utm_source and other campaign tags, click identifiers such as fbclid and gclid that tie a visit back to your account, share IDs that tell YouTube or Spotify who shared with whom, and redirect wrappers that send every click through Google, Facebook or Outlook first. Paste a link, a list of links or a whole message, and each link comes back clean, in place, ready to share.

What gets removed, and what stays

The cleaner removes parameters known to be tracking: campaign tags from Google Analytics, Matomo and HubSpot, click IDs from Facebook, Google, Microsoft, TikTok and X, Mailchimp and Marketo email IDs, and more. It unwraps redirect links from Google search, Facebook, Instagram, Outlook Safe Links, Reddit and LinkedIn to the real destination, and shortens Amazon product links to the product's own address. Parameters that decide what you see, such as a product ID, a search query, a page number or a video timestamp, are kept, so the cleaned link opens the same page.

Some short names, like si or feature, are tracking on YouTube or Spotify but real settings on other sites, so they're only removed where they're known to be tracking.

Safe to paste anything

The cleaner never opens a link: it only rewrites text in your browser, so even a link to a suspicious page is safe to paste and inspect. That also means shortened links like bit.ly can't be expanded, because finding where they go requires visiting them; those are left as they are. Nothing you paste is uploaded or stored.

Why it matters

Tracking parameters let platforms connect what you click with who shared it, and they can reveal which newsletter, ad or account a link came from. A clean link is shorter, looks more trustworthy when you post it, and shares only the page itself. It is also kinder to the people you send it to, whose visit is no longer tied back to your account.

Questions

What does it remove?
Campaign tags (utm_source and the rest), click identifiers from Facebook, Google, Microsoft, TikTok, X and others, email-marketing IDs, YouTube and Spotify share IDs, redirect wrappers from Google, Facebook, Outlook Safe Links and LinkedIn, and the long name-and-reference part of Amazon product links.
Will the cleaned link still work?
Yes. Only parameters known to be tracking are removed; the ones that pick the page, product, search or timestamp are kept. Short parameter names that are tracking on one site but settings elsewhere are only removed on that site.
Does it open the link?
Never. Cleaning is text processing in your browser, so even a link to a malicious page is safe to paste. Shortened links (bit.ly and similar) can't be expanded without opening them, so they're left as they are.
