Rotate PDF

Runs on your device

Rotate every page of a PDF, or only the pages you choose, by 90 or 180 degrees, in your browser.

How to use Rotate PDF

  1. Choose the PDF with the sideways or upside-down pages.
  2. Pick the rotation: 90° clockwise, 180°, or 90° anticlockwise.
  3. Rotate all pages, or enter only the pages that need it, such as 2, 5-7.
  4. Select Rotate PDF and download the result.

What happens to your file

When you choose a PDF, your browser reads it into the memory of this tab. The work runs in a background worker inside the same tab, using pdf-lib, an open-source PDF library. The result is handed back to the page and saved through your browser's normal download.

Nothing is sent to WeaveAI or anyone else, so there is no copy to delete afterwards. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run the tool. You will see the PDF engine load once from this site, and nothing carrying your document.

Rotating some pages or all of them

Scans often come out with a few pages sideways: a landscape table in a portrait report, or a page fed into the scanner upside down. Choose Only some pages and type their numbers, such as 4 or 7-9, to fix just those. Choose All pages when a whole document was scanned the wrong way round.

Rotation is added to whatever the page already has. A page saved at 90° and rotated another 90° clockwise ends up at 180°, which is what you see in the preview of any PDF viewer.

What changes in the file

A PDF stores each page's orientation as a setting, so rotating changes that setting and nothing else. The text is not re-recognised, images are not re-compressed, and the file size stays about the same. Text you could select before is still selectable, and links still work.

The rotated PDF is a new file. Your original is not modified, and the new file carries no author, title or dates from it.

Limits

Pages turn in steps of 90 degrees, which covers sideways and upside-down scans. Straightening a slightly skewed scan needs deskewing, which is a different job. There is no daily limit, and password-protected PDFs need the password removed first in the application that created them.

Questions

Is the rotation permanent?
Yes. The rotation is saved in the new PDF, so every viewer shows the pages the right way up.
Does rotating re-compress the pages?
No. Only each page's orientation setting changes. Text, images and file size stay the same.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The PDF is rotated by code running in your browser tab and never leaves your device.
